Greetings from snowy Philadelphia!
Entrepreneurship is a popular path for many Lauder students, both before, during, and after their time on-campus. On this front, we have a few exciting developments to share with you!
First, congratulations on behalf of the entire Lauder community to Lane Rettig of the Class of 2014’s Chinese program. Lane is the co-founder at CTO of Seratis, a patient-centric mobile platform that allows doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers to communicate more easily and started in March 2013 at Dream IT in Philadelphia. He and his co-founder, Divya Dhar (also of Wharton), were just awarded second place in the Verizon Powerful Answers Award 2014. The award comes with a cash prize of $850,000.This is a tremendous accomplishment and we are so thrilled for Lane, Divya, and Seratis. We can’t wait to see what they do next! See the official press release in the Wall Street Journal and check out photos from the event on the @seratishealth Twitter feed.
Prior to Lauder, Lane was working in Hong Kong at D.E. Shaw and also heavily involved with the Hong Kong chapter of Wokai. In addition to Mandarin, Lane also speaks Japanese. He spent last semester at Wharton’s San Francisco campus. Way to go Lane!
Second, we are pleased to announce that Santander generously provided the Lauder Institute with a gift, and part of it will be allocated to provide up to three Lauder students a year with a summer award for entrepreneurship in the amount of $10,000. The award will enable these Lauder students to spend the summer working on their own entrepreneurial ventures in lieu of a full-time internship.
